If you can't hear other participants in your Blitzz session, the cause is usually one of these:
- Their microphone isn't working properly
- Your speakers aren't working
- Their microphone permission is turned off
- Network issues
Start by running a pre-call test to check that your microphone and speakers work. Ask the other participant to run the same quick test: https://web.blitzz.co/networktest
Check your speakers
- Make sure your speakers or headphones are connected and turned on.
- Check that your system volume isn't muted or too low.
- If you use external speakers or a headset, select them as the output device in your computer's sound settings.
- Play a test sound outside the call, like this video, to confirm your speakers work.
Ask the other participant to check their microphone
- Their microphone should be connected and not muted.
- The right mic should be selected in their device sound settings or in Blitzz Call Settings.
- They need a working microphone.
- If their mic has a mute button, make sure it's off. Also check the Blitzz mute button.
Check their browser microphone permission
The first time someone joins a Blitzz session, the browser asks for microphone access. If they denied it, you won't hear them. Ask them to reset their permissions.
Restart both computers
Other video or calling apps can block the microphone or speakers. Close those apps or restart both computers, then try again.
More fixes for the other participant
- Update the browser. Outdated browsers can cause audio problems. Use the latest browser version.
- Check computer settings. Windows or Mac settings may block the microphone.
- Check antivirus, firewall or parental controls. These can restrict microphone access.
- Update drivers. Use Device Manager, Lenovo Vantage or Logi Capture (for Logitech devices) to update webcam and mic drivers.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I see the other person but not hear them?
Their mic may be muted, not selected, or blocked by the browser. Or your speakers may be off. Check both sides using the steps above.
