Blitzz runs over the internet, so your network plays a big role. Most connection problems come from a network condition, not an error in Blitzz. If you have connection issues, or your network test results show network problems, check the items below.
Firewall
Many organizations route traffic through a firewall. Because Blitzz is a peer-to-peer service, some traffic must be allowed through. Outgoing TCP and UDP traffic on port 443 must be open. Your network administrator needs to make this change. See the detailed firewall settings.
Proxy or VPN
If you use a VPN, ask your IT team to update the firewall settings to allow Blitzz traffic. See the detailed firewall settings.
Network latency and Wi-Fi
Sometimes the problem isn't your internet speed but your connection to it, most often your Wi-Fi router. Routers work best with a clear line of sight. Walls between you and the router can slow and weaken the connection.
- Run a few internet speed tests in different spots to see if speeds change.
- If Wi-Fi is unreliable, connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable, or use a mobile hotspot.
Regional restrictions (Russia, China and the UAE)
Some countries, including Russia, China and the UAE, restrict peer-to-peer apps like Blitzz. Users there report spotty access or no access at all. These are government-level internet restrictions, so Blitzz can't resolve them.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my Blitzz call keep dropping?
Common causes are a firewall or VPN blocking traffic, or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Check the sections above, or try a wired connection.
Does Blitzz work in China?
Access may be limited or unavailable because of government restrictions on peer-to-peer apps.
