Can I send an Invite form my email address? (e.g. @example.com)

TLDR: No, Blitzz does not support changing the sender email address as this impacts the email delivery. Blitzz uses emails for transitional emails where timely email delivery is extremely important. Some servers like Yahoo are already blocking these emails. We don’t know when Gmail and Microsoft will officially stop allowing third-party sending without domain control and so we recommend allowing Blitzz to deliver your email to keep your delivery rates as high as possible.

We see customers frequently asking us about sending emails on behalf of their domain and not through Blitzz (no-reply@getblitzz.com or support@blitzz.co) email address.

For example, when you add a new user to Blitzz, or when you invite a guest to a ShowMe Session.

In the past, this hasn’t been a big problem and we could replace the sending email to your email (eg. name@example.com) but there’s a big imminent problem with this use case because it’s going to stop working entirely no matter what ISP (e.g. gmail.com) you are sending to.

There are more ways you can authorize us to send the emails on your behalf by making changes to your DNS records. You will need to add both SPF and DKIM records that effectively say “allow the server with the IP address of xx.xx.xx.xx to send emails that appear to originate from example.com.”

Why?

It turns out that sending email from a domain that you don’t own is a tactic employed by spammers and especially by phishers. If a phisher is going to successfully convince someone to click the link in their fake eBay password reset email, they need to make that email look like it’s coming from eBay.

Both Google and Microsoft are planning to implement this policy very soon, and Yahoo has already made the change.
